Up a Level for NSW State Championships
A few weeks ago I got a text from Romy (via mum Rachael) - does Badger have flying changes? I responded back, no but how hard can it be? With Rachael rolling her eyes at me and Romy the next challenge was set…. compete at Medium within three weeks and, qualify for the NSW State Championships at Medium level (they were already qualified at Elementary). I thought we had better give them more than their usual three rides together prior to the comp so Badger stayed with Romy during the lead up. We headed off to SIEC for Hawkesbury Dressage’s Silver Jubilee competition and it was so cool to watch them warming up, weaving in and out of FEI horses in the Olympic arena with their newly acquired flying changes! Low and behold they won their test and the little combo is now qualified for the NSW State Champs for Elementary and Medium!
Australian Youth Dressage Championships
What a fantastic competition! The National Championships for young dressage riders saw Romy and Black Charming performing beautifully and again taking home Reserve Champion Elementary pony. I could not be prouder of both of them. For a young rider (13 now) Romy is incredibly focussed and Badger tries very hard for her. They take great care of each other at competitions and are so much fun to watch.
I love Dressage NSW’s Winter Festival – it’s one of my favourite competitions of the year. The music is pumping, there are trade stands everywhere and everyone stays around for presentations and wine time! This was Romy and Black Charming’s second outing and they won the Elementary 3.3 and missed out on the Championship rug by less than a point! So proud. Big thanks go to ALS Equestrian and Joint Plus for sponsorship and fabulous prizes.
Change of Reins
With a new job taking up all of my waking hours the reins were handed to talented young rider Romy Sanna with a goal of competing at the Australian Youth Dressage Championships. After only five rides together they attended Dressage NSW’s May competition, won both of their tests and qualified for the Youth Champs with ease.
First Australian foals have arrived! 30.9.13
Black Charming's first Australian foals have safely arrived within days of each other. The first is a sensational bay filly with a huge star, small snip and three white socks. Bred by Judy Allan of Mansfield Park Ponies she is out of Beuna Vista Fyona, herself a beautiful Welsh B mare.
The second, arriving only yesterday is a wonderful chestnut colt with two socks and a large blaze. He will be retained by Lisa Randle as a future eventer for Lisa's talented young children.
Photos of both foals to come shortly.
Results Wrap Up for the 2012 Season 21.8.13
It's been one year today that Black Charming came out of quarantine at Eastern Creek and he's been a busy boy with both breeding and competition duties. He has won seven tests and placed 2nd in three others with scores up to 69.24% He is the current ASPR NSW Elementary Champion and we are set for another busy season of official dressage. He continues to delight me with his wonderful personality and his super work ethic and is always patient when I am trying to learn things that he obviously already knows!
Two wins for two classes at Dressage NSW 10.3.13
We had a beautiful day at Clarendon yesterday with Black Charming winning both of his Novice tests. We love competing at Clarendon, the facilties are excellent and the judging is great. Always inspiring to see so many professionals their Big Tour horses as well as bringing on their young ones. Looking forward to next month.
Elementary Champion at the ASPR Open Challenge 2.2.13
In what was a great start to the year Black Charming attended the Australian Sports Pony Challenge at SIEC in February and brought home the Elementary Champion title. Amanda Madigan took the ride and did a super job with the pair gaining the highest score of the weekend across the board - including ponies and horses. Thanks Mandy x
Check out this short video of Black Charming at home 2.10.12
Last week Holly Lewis was kind enough to climb on board BC and put him through his paces so I could make a short video for potential breeders. He behaved impeccably as always and it was hard to get Holly to hand him back! You can click <here> to view the video.
Black Charming set for a busy comp & breeding season 30.08.12
It's been just over a week since BC arrived home and he has charmed everyone he has met. He has a great work ethic, super movement and a lovely attitude under saddle. He has obviously been well trained in Germany and is proving a joy to ride and handle. His EA registration is pending and he should be out competing once Dressage NSW has officially graded him. With the stud season about to commence we are excited to see what the rest of 2012 brings for this lovely pony.
Black Charming WE settled well into Australia 31.07.12
After a long flight from Germany Black Charming has arrived safely in Sydney and settled well into life at quarantine. His groom reports he is happy and alert and has described him as a delight to have around. He has traveled with no problems and is due out from quarantine on the 22nd of August - just in time for breeding season.

Nattai Flowergirl Sold 18.03.12
Nattai Flowergirl (Phoebe) has sold to the most perfect home based in Glenorie, NSW. The little black Welsh B mare was a pleasure to train with a super attitude and the great movement so typical of good Welsh ponies. Phoebe is already out and about with her young rider picking up ribbons and I wish them years of happiness and success.
